WHICH TRAMPOLINE SIZE IS BEST FOR MY FAMILY?

Choosing a trampoline size is about more than the number on the box. The outer measurement includes the frame padding, the actual jumping area is smaller, and you need free space all around it. Here's how to get it right.

The 5 most important tips for choosing the right trampoline size for your family:

  1. Measure your garden first. Measure the space before you order and allow at least 1 metre of free space on every side, away from fences, trees, walls and washing lines. The ground should be as level as possible.

  2. Look at the jumping area, not just the outer size. The total size includes the frame padding. A trampoline that measures 300 cm often has only about 220 cm of real jumping surface.

  3. For younger children: start with the right shape. Oval and rectangular trampolines give beginners more control. Our smaller models from about 350 cm give plenty of room without taking over the garden.

  4. Buy for the years ahead. Children grow quickly, and as they get older they jump higher and want more space. If you have several children who take turns, choose a size that suits the oldest. North trampolines are designed for one jumper at a time.

  5. Gymnastics, tricks and flips? Bigger is better. Sporty children need space to land safely. For tricks and training we recommend a length of at least 450 cm, such as the North Performer or North Athlete.

Both large and small trampolines are incredibly fun, but if you're thinking long-term and have enough space in your garden, we recommend choosing the largest trampoline possible. More surface area means more room for your children to play safely without colliding with each other or the edges of the trampoline.

Is a 305 cm trampoline big enough?

For small children, it can be. But remember that a 305 cm trampoline usually has only about 220 cm of real jumping area. For older children, or if you want the trampoline to last for years, we recommend 400 cm or more.

How much space do I need for a trampoline?

Take the outer size and add 2 metres in both directions, which gives 1 metre of free space on each side. For example, the North Performer at 4.6 × 3.1 m needs a space of around 6.6 × 5.1 m.

Round, oval or rectangular – which is best?

Oval and rectangular trampolines give more control and suit both beginners and sporty jumpers. Compare our oval trampolines and rectangular trampolines.

Can I sink a trampoline into the ground?

Yes. An in-ground trampoline sits flush with the lawn and blends neatly into the garden. Read more about the North In Ground trampoline. Please note however, we do no recommend installing a normal above ground trampoline into the ground, as they are not designed to be below the ground and the bounce will be affected negatively due to reduced airflow.
